The failed coup was in August 1991. Putin began work as acting deputy mayor in 1992, and officially got the title in 1994.

You seem skeptical. Putin himself makes the claim that he drove a cab in the early 1990s, after resigning from the KGB. I suppose you can call him a liar, if you like.

He did not move to Moscow until his boss in Leningrad was voted out of office in 1996, about five years later. He did not join Yeltsin’s staff until 1997.

Your dates are all completely wrong, and my dates are all 100% accurate. Yet you will get accolades and upvotes, while I will be downvoted into oblivion. That’s just the kind of place this is.
