Interesting voter registration changes over time -
1998 AZ voter registration
Republican - 1,013,533 (45%)
Democrat - 912,613 (40%)
Other - 338,145 (15%)
2022 AZ voter registration
Republican - 1,436, 852 (35%)
Democrat - 1,270,544 (31%)
Other - 1,436,533 (35%)
The ratio of Republicans to Democrats has actually gone up since 1998, but the big movement has been the number of independent voters. They now number the same as Republicans.
