That's not how this works. By pressing 1 you confirmed you are a real person and your number was put on a list and sold to the scammers in India as 'verified good numbers'.

I made the same mistake a couple times, now I get 30+ scam calls a day. Using 'Call filter app' from Verizon and my block list is over 200 numbers deep, now 1 or 2 get through a day as they spoof the caller id, but they get added to the block list.

I have anecdotal evidence for this, my wife got the same calls, and never pressed 1 to be removed, and she gets 2-3 spam calls a day compared to my 30+.
