Sugar Ants in Kitchen

That's what we called them growing up, little black ants that don't bite, but infest your kitchen. I haven't seen one in years. Well, saw a few thousand this afternoon in my kitchen.
Put all food away and cleaned up and killed many of them, sprayed poison around the area that it looked like they were coming in.
What else can I do?

I found it was best to spend a little time to track where they are entering then use a bait such as Terro. I did that for a few days followed by a very light spray of Home Defense in that area. I was about a year and a half ago.

Look up Broax soap and sugar to kill ants. I forgot the ratio. But spread outside. Never in the house.

I put borax in a bottle cap and mix in a half tsp of sugar. That knocks them out within a couple days. They take that mixture back to the nest and all of them feast on it.

Terro poison. Put it in their path and trail. They send out the call. They’ll usually be gone the next day. Spray does nothing except kill the ones you see. Terro they take back and spread to the nest.

Never smash them or spray them. Always use a sugar based bait to kill the whole colony.
