I’ve seen it several times. It seems to be what the disposition of the turkey is that day.
We have one big food plot on a gas line. Very hilly terrain northward. I’ve seen the turkeys start at the top of the hill, 500 yards away. work their way down the hill to about 200 yards and take flight. tWhen they arrive to the bottom, they chased every single deer off the field. Like a BOSS!
Never seen a deer chase a turkey off any field.

Never seen that before. Hopefully, he's still that aggressive in March or April when I throw a decoy out in the plot and hit the box call.
