Tech layoffs in the past week

Layoffs announced in the last day:

- Lyft 13% of workers
- Opendoor 18%
- Stripe 14%
- Chime 12%
- Twitter 50%
- Facebook 11K

Tech workers are going to be in low demand for a while like any other nonessential job during a recession. No one is spending money on apps right now like they used to. Facebook ad revenue is down big time so even advertisers are cutting back. Anyone left on Twitter will have to do what Musk says.

By all accounts Musk fired/laid off the wrong people. He cut entire teams of workers who knew the ends and outs of the program. Twitter may seem pretty basic to the average person but it's a complex ecosystem. People in the know said this would happen. It's going to have all kinds of technical problems and may eventually become unusable.
