Initial Reaction - Bama Re-watch

Perkins going out mid 3Q, returning 4Q disrupted continuity of the defense. It took a few plays to adjust initially, but did not hurt us. On the B.Y. scramble TD drive, Perkins returned mid-way and may have missed a few assignments. Otherwise great game from the true freshman, he will learn a lot from film this week.
Generally LSU made it's fair share of mistakes; missed tackles by LB's, secondary breakdowns and pass blocking deficiencies are all evident upon re-watch.
LSU's offense is not predicated on "hope" anymore, hoping our OL, RB's, TE's and WR's are bigger, stronger and faster than opponents for 4Q's. LSU's offense gained a sense of certainty vs Bama. See JD5's postgame interview, he knew he was going to score the TD, and the 2pt conversion in OT. Offense is recognizing and executing the correct play based on what the opponent is giving them. This is achieved by scheme, and by holding excellent practices among others. Kudos to BK and staff.
Overriding theme is that LSU won the game without playing it's best football. BK and staff will have lots of teaching opportunities this week, and LSU should be eager to hit the field vs Arky. Football is a fun game to play when you're on a well-balanced team with great players and competent coaches.
Thanks again and enjoy the progression.

I thought outside of Alabama's first drive, LSU really dominated the first quarter, and was PO'd that dominance was somewhat wasted by LSU only getting 7 points. I though the early play-calling was very cautious despite the fact it has been proven time and time again that if you are going to beat Alabama you have to be willing to challenge them on offense. Meaning attacking the middle of the field and taking one-on-one deep shots when presented. LSU was reluctant to do so.
The DL, particularly Wingo, got a lot of push to affect Young, but Perkins is a game-changer. Young is terrific at escaping pressure and making plays down field. But even when he could step away from the inside pressure Perkins was a heat-seeking missile that was constantly there.
LSU's WRs are just tough. I know there has been an emphasis to do so since the Auburn game, but any time LSU can get one of their guys one-on-one Daniels has to get it out to them. I'll take LSU's WR in a 50/50 fight every time.
This isn't the best secondary LSU has ever had, but they are at least physical. You might be able to run by them from time to time, but they are willing to come up an hit you.
Thank God BOB decided it wasn't important to run Gibbs more

Many Bama fans on the SEC rant were voicing their extreme displeasure with this. 15 runs for 99 yards.

I disagree. We played a the best opponent we have seen this year and beat them. Yes, in the long run I believe UA>UT.
Do not expect to look like a perfect executing team when playing that level of competition. We played our best game of the year in all phases.

Gibbs was not gashing us that badly. He got two good runs that I remember and they were complete reversal of field cuts. He hurt us a much as anything as a receiver

Agree. Really disappointed at his play so far. I think the true freshman #32 looked faster and actually hit some of the gaps better than he did. I think the freshman should play more.

Denbrock and the staff did a great job calling plays. They knew where Bama could be exposed. Players executed well, especially on their blocks
