Not true at all. It forces LSU to go for 2 which is statistically hard to get. If they don’t get it a field goal win it for you.

Yeah but the floor to win is still a TD for LSU. So the assumption is LSU scores a TD. If you are up 6, you can make it to OT by denying the PAT. Depending on when LSU scores, that may be your only shot. LSU has lost this way this season.

It’s thinking in terms of possessions in reverse. Your scenario involves bama getting the ball back. They may not get that opportunity.
