Two different times they went for it and don’t get it. If they kick PAT one time, LSU loses the game

1st one made sense. Would have out them up by 3. 2nd. No.

Sabear’s “chart” told him he should go for two in those cases.

First time: Up 15-14, going for 2 puts you a field goal ahead. I can see why he went for 2 here.

Second time: Up 21-17, being up by 5 or 6 doesn't really matter, LSU still has to score a TD. I didn't like this call, I would have taken the PAT, but I'm glad he did it.

The narrative right now is how much of genius CBK is with decision to go for it. When quite frankly Saban got too aggressive and didn’t kick a PAT when he should have. Alabama was down 15-17 and they score on that pass. Score is 21-17 now. Tell me why they need to go for 2? To increase their lead to 6? We would then have to go for 2 on our next TD drive to be able to even make OT. So now we need 2 extra pt conversions to win! A lot more difficult on these young guys

His reasoning was 6 is reachable with 2 fg, but only to tie. No difference between 4 and 5, 6 is ok if you hold to 2 fg

At least thats what he said in his presser. I get it.

Being up by 6 means you can still be tied if the other team scores a TD and misses/blocked extra point. It’s just one last prayer just in case. 4 and 5 point leads are essentially the same. 5 and 6 aren’t.

I guess people forgot about that missed extra point in game 1

The reasoning is if you’re up by 6, LSU needs a TD AND has to make the kick. Remember this hasn’t always been an easy play

We haven’t come close to missing an xp since game 1. A missed xp is rare and it is more likely we make and you have time to answer. If there were 2 minutes left and that was your reasoning ok.
His reasoning of 2 fgs isn’t that great either. That is basically saying lsu can get the hall twice and drive enough with a short fg kicker and his offense doing nothing.

By far the most likely scenario(other than bama stopping us outright) is for us to score and they have a minute or 2 at most to score back.

Go watch Saban's press conference. He explains it for a reporter.

Those were puzzling, particulary on their last TD in regulation.

If you get the 2 you go up by 6 on the second one. Which means they need 2 FGs or have to be successful on extra point after a TD, no gimme in college under pressure

Because his arrogance allowed him to think no one could stop him.

The points etc. crap is a rationalization.

They were both bad decisions, you don’t chase points that early.
