Let's visit how screwed up this system is:

#1 in Division 1 is Warren Easton and here is their resume:

1. Their biggest win is at Ruston by 6 who lost their star running back on the 5th play of the game.
2. Their 2nd biggest win is a "2-0" forfeit from Edna Karr who actually beat them by 47 points.
3. Catholic beat them on the road by 9.
4. Their opponents record is 56-38.

#2 in Division 1 is Catholic BR. Here is their resume:
1. Their loss is to Our Lady of Good Counsel who is 8-2 and heading into this week was ranked #12 in America with their only two losses to teams in the top 25.
2. Wins against St. Thomas More, Zachary on the road, and GW Carver who is 8-1 in Alabama class 6A.
3. Win @ Warren Easton by 9.
4. Their opponents record is 63-36.

Makes total sense that Warren Easton would be the 1 and Catholic would be the 2. Now they get rewarded with Karr in the quarters. Means the fact that Karr can't keep paperwork straight totally screws Catholic and robs the state of the best 2 teams in the title game.

You see the final power ratings listed somewhere? You saying Karr will be #7?

Imagine crying about high school football rating systems on a message board at 1:00 in the morning.

1) Ruston, Karr, and Catholic are 5A schools.
2) Even though Warren Easton is in Division I for the playoffs, the are classified as a 4A school.
3) A school gets an extra 2 points added to their power ranking for every game they play up in classification; win or lose. They earned 6 extra points for simply playing Karr, Catholic, and Ruston. They also received 2 extra points for playing John Ehret.

Yes, the infinite wisdom of the LHSAA uses the old 5 tier classification system to calculate power rankings. Then takes those rankings and uses them to seed teams in a playoff system that incorporates four(x2) Divisions to classify teams.

Warren Easton and Catholic are in the same division, but Warren Easton earned 8 extra bonus points simply because they are 4A and played four 5A teams.

Warren Easton: 156.6 points
Catholic: 154.8

Those 8 points were the difference.

Now, another issue is the fact they earned 18.67 points for losing to Karr, but Curtis and St Augustine only earned 6.67.
The losses for JC and St. Aug counted. Warren Easton was gifted a forfeit and 10 extra points for a win.

#1-5 in DI non-select is solid and the rest of the bracket is total crap.

But it is absurd that Neville gets the 2 seed with their 4A points while Destrehan is 3 and they have throat-punched all their opponents by halftime.

They've given up 41 points all season.
Their lowest point total in a single game this season is 42.
