Kyle Field is pretty accessible in terms of parking and traffic, for one.

Accessible to whom? Houstonians are 1.5hrs away, yes. Dallas, not so much.

This highlights the root of the issue. When I was in school at the 80's and early 90's, it wasn't that hard to go to a game, and get in/out of the area.

Stadium capacity was about 80k, and we parked on campus. Lots of times I would park by the Law Center, sometimes down by the Ag Center. A few times over on the levee, but that seemed like a long walk...
There were a few times I even was able to get into the lots over by the Astronomy building, or over by Coates.
I never paid, once.

as I understand it now, people are parking damn near Tigerland and walking. Parking on or near campus is no longer allowed. You're just too far away, and the infrastructure of the roads just can't handle the additional 20K of people.
And a big issue is that with the river being a hard boundary, you just can't fix that part of it.

Going to games is great, but not everyone wants to put a 5 km walk into the process every time you go.
