There is an old house behind my house...

The owner sold it to a builder back in March. Everyone assumed that he would find a buyer, demolish the house (built in the 1940's and in bad shape), and build a new home on the lot. Well, this empty house has sat on the market since March.
Last week, I started hearing work being done on the house. Turns out that the builder is renovating the home. Not sure if he plans to sell it, or rent it, but I find it interesting that he has changed his initial plans.
And I am thrilled that I won't have some home being built behind me. I guess it is one of the few positives, for me, of this economic downturn.

and as an additional bonus if he does a nice job, it may well look better than a new construction would have. Lots of unique architecture in those old homes. Good for you.

could be a bad move also....the builder could be fixing it half arse enough to pass inspection and rent it out, which in turn may lower your property value.
