This is the ONE tradition I wish they would bring back to Tiger stadium. If it's the PETA nutjobs who are forcing LSUs hand and not allowing this to happen, how come they don't raise a stink about all the other live mascots in college football that still take the field?!?!
Frankly, I cant believe you even have to ask that question since the question has been answered on here more than a hundred times...
But one more fricking time...
LSU owns Mike. LSU is a govt entity. All the world wildlife conservation groups have banded together to get laws passed that internationally outlaw marketing big cats. The only way LSU could get a new Mike was to sign an agreement to be a big cat rescue facility that met certain standards and then the cat has to be donated. Parading Mike in a cage in front of large crowds with pyrotechnics was considered abusive by these groups and hence LSU agreed not to do so. Willfully violating this agreement wil likely mean the end of Mike on campus.
Now Memphis State has a tiger that is used like we used to but he is privately owned.
But LSU being a govt run institution will not cross the boundaries set forth in the laws governing sales and boarding of big cats.

Like I said, LSU has no problem getting a replacement tiger with or without any arbitrary certification or designation as a rescue facility.
LSU had multiple entities reach out willing to provide a live tiger without any certification or designation.
You are out right lying. Please provide me with your LSU credentials so I can report your anonymous use of a message board to spread verifiable lies.
Other posters and readers, do not believe these leftist and Marxist who only want to destroy traditions and culture. They would prefer we have no football if it was up to them. Don’t give an inch.

Informative post.
