I looked at the Tonal, but ended up getting an Oxefit XS1. It is clearly the future, but you have to make some adjustments to what you're used to. Most cable work will be very close to what you're used to. Other basic exercises (barbell squat, barbell bench press) take a little getting used to.

There are advantages (quickly load and unload the weight, things you just can't do with free weights like rowing and the cable exercises, at least without attachments, it is very space efficient, etc.) and disadvantages (some getting used to is required, 250 pound limit).

I don't know the entire deal on the Tonal, since I didn't get it, but one of the turn offs is that it is mounted to the wall, Tonal has to install it and if you want to move it, Tonal has to move it. My Oxefit is a self-contained unit that can be unplugged and moved if necessary.

Oxefit XS1

This is interesting. Takes up much less space than any free weight system. Might have to look harder at this.

Interesting, I have been looking at Tonal lately because my job will pay up to $100/month towards a gym or other health related stuff. So I could 0% finance this and get it for free technically.

Which model did you go with and what accessory package?
