Smells like bullshite
The main reason omicron is less deadly is because of its spike protein mutation
So if you put that spike protein on the original virus you just get omicron

If you read the pre-print of the paper (not peer reviewed yet), instead of the pants-wetting inducing Daily Mail article with the scary headline, the intention of the experiment was to determine how the virus breaks through vaccine immunity by these spike protein mutations.
