I wouldn’t say he was bad. Just okay. I’m a fan of big Jake, I like that one a lot.

And, like I said earlier, he doesn’t even put on the best performance in that film.

I think his acting is outstanding in The Shepherd of the Hills (1941). Trailer on YouTube

I think it would have been pretty easy for me to look like I'm in love with Betty Field's 'Sammy' character too.

I'm in agreeance with yall. John Wayne is a terrific actor when he wants to be and he's good at being John Wayne, which is fine with me.

You forgot The Quiet Man...he was great in that as well.

But, I thought his best work was The Searchers. Ethan really is not a likeable person....but then neither is Scar (Cicatriz). Jeffrey Hunter works well as the par opposite of Wayne's Ethan Edwards character.Vera Miles as Laurie was very good as was the guy who played Charlie.

It was Wayne at his height of power and ability.

Hope that movie is NEVER remade
