Trump? He is what he is: a boorish populist.
When Trump first emerged as a candidate in the summer of 2015, I said from the get-go Trump was the only Repube candidate who could beat Hillary. Yet I also steadfastly maintained that Trump’s MAGA agenda in many ways contradicted itself and offered no long-term solutions to the continuing crisis.
Yet such populist pushback is the very best outcome we can hope for in this wholly corrupted political environment. Again, it is what it is.
With that said, Trump certainly far exceeded my expectations in exposing both the utter uselessness of the ruling Republican establishment and the utter depths of the corruption of the Deep State. For those two accomplishments alone, Trump certainly is most accomplished President of my lifetime.

I agree with almost everything you say.
Trump has had the largest impact on the body politic (good or bad depending on your perspective) of any president in my 60-year lifetime. I wish I would still be here in 100 years to see how history treats him and this time period.

But he wasn't. He benefited from being wildly different from 16 other candidates, but Hillary Clinton is the worst nominee in history. A potato could've beat her.
