Our current struggles @ QB and D:

Does anyone think this may actually help us get good recruits in with the thought they may play earlier than with a team that is solid in those areas?

I say it's brilliance. Replace a RS Freshman that has limited to moderate success that knows the playbook yet makes freshman mistakes at times and will eventually be a solid SEC Quarterback with a true freshman QB that has never taken a college snap.
Why does this make so much sense to me?

Well I look at LSU when there was JR, MF, RP, and if I were a QB (which I'm not), who thinks I can play , maybe as a Soph, even get some PT as a Frosh, I may lean toward the team that has that possibility, opposed to one that is three deep with quality players.

ok, so he's a complete frick up and does nothing to help the team the entire 60 minutes of football.

I don't claim to know anything about recruiting, and know I may get flamed for this, but it seems to me that good players coming out of high school are wanting to go where they will see playing time early. I believe this is why more and more teams are getting these players that never did before. That's the reason I would guess a player would see these struggles as an opportunity.
