Has any one heard when this course may be re-opening? It would be a good location for me to get in an afterwork 9, and avoid interstate traffic.

I go to Dumas to play 9 at least once a week and keep asking when it's going to open but no one can give me a answer. I know they been pumping the water to the greens but the tee boxes looks like they are a ways off. Was also told that when we had all this rain, it washed a lot of seeds off the fairway. I found it odd that they did the sod so late in the year when grass is not growing that fast but what do I know.

It was originally going to be seeded/sodded starting in May with plans to open in October. I have a feeling this will get pushed back a good bit thanks to our summer of monsoons.

I drove by it recently and it doesn't look anywhere close to being done.
Also, not sure why I was expecting a Beaver Creek level 9 holder by the zoo, but it surely ain't that (at least from the street). Looks like they just rerouted Clark and Dumas and didn't make it better or nicer. Just a different path to play through.

They 3 holes they redid by hwy 19 look like they we be fun to play.
Clark looks the same with better cart paths and more green shape. Greens have come in well but tee boxes and fairways got a bit. I’m guessing a spring 23 open.

Aren't those the ones that were kept exactly the same from Dumas? I wouldn't say they were redone.

No. They build a new par 3 over some water, looks like a different lay out on the two par 4s and totally new greens with better contours.

Thanks for the info. We need something else in the BR area. The courses seem to be so congested.

I imagine they have kept some of the olde r parts and then cleaned up a few holes.
Dumas 20 yrs ago wasn’t a bad track to play. If it can just be moderately cared for, it will be good for me to hit after work.
They really blew it though when they didn’t put a par 3 green with a giraffe or elephant housing as the surrounding background.

Well it's not complete yet, so fingers crossed on the animal exhibit holes.

The courses only seem congested at peak times and during peak season. During lsu season? Empty. Weekdays? Empty. Winter? Empty. Hunting season? Empty.
That isn’t a sustainable business model. So don’t expect a ton of courses to open so people can play for cheap on Saturday morning only during prime times/season and nothing else important going on.
If you are willing to drive to Clark then go to the Island or CM. I guarantee you, you can get a tee time at one of them.

I passed by Saturday evening and swore I saw a guy driving a cart with clubs on the back near Hwy 19. Was raining so couldn’t see great.

I think you can play some of the old Dumas holes

Clark not open yet. You still can play holes 10, 11, 12, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 at Dumas. Thing about Dumas is the greens are in the best shape they have been in a while and they are about to shut it down. But then again it's getting very little play.

Played Dumas yesterday. There were a bunch of groups out there, but I suspect it was because it finally warmed up enough to play golf and people are off the week between Christmas and New Years.
Greens are in excellent shape. I wouldn't call them fast, but they were quicker than Copper Mill greens and rolled true. If you get on the wrong side of the hole, they can be slippery.
Looks like Clark still has a ways to go and the guy I got paired with said they still have to build the cart barn and that hasn't even started yet. You could see a couple of the greens on the drive in, and they look to be very large with some nice contours. I still can't picture the routing though. It doesn't look very walker friendly, but I'll reserve judgement until I get to play it.

It’s going to be a bit of a hike I think from the old Clark 6 holes to those new 3 holes through the woods and across the greenwood park drive. However, the rest should be easily walked.
They have the layout online hidden somewhere.
Old man winter hammered those new holes this past week. Green to looking dead

Here is the layout:
Looks super disjointed to me. For some reason, it looks like two different golf courses thrown together.

I'm struggling to figure out where the next hole is after the par 3 that's adjacent to Greenwood Drive.

I was told by someone in the club house that the opening date has been changed to February. Something about one of the bridges are not completed.
