I pulled out of the market a couple of months ago, so I have money that needs to sit in a holding pattern for a bit. In the case of a major recession or a depression, what is the safest place for storing money of the following:
Chase Savings/Checking Account
Money under the mattress
Fidelity Investments (shorted the S&P a month or so ago)
Account
AMEX high yield savings account
I Bonds
$ in safe deposit box
I have a general distrust of banks to the extent that they would comply with federal orders if shite really hit the fan.

Your amounts are limited.
How much money are you talking about, and how liquid do you want it to be?
Safest is probably a money market account with a major investment firm, or Treasury bonds.

Our whole lives have been a depression unless you’re like 60+
The answer to your question is hole in the backyard. Having to find a shovel is the only way to slow down Brandon’s 800000 new irs agents

I Bonds were only 50k for us. I wish I could put more, and we will next year.
I have larger amounts spread throughout the things I listed.
I watched banks comply in Canada to freeze the truckers bank accounts who were protesting. This has me concerned.

These IRS agents will likely target people and accounts can be drained or frozen with ease. They are one of the main factors for my initial post.
All my taxes are in order, but I am not sure that will matter.

then you had best open business accounts or trusts overseas if you are that worried all your stuff here will be seized and start moving money.

I don't believe its happening tomorrow, but in 2019 I wouldn't have believed much of what has happened in the last couple of years.

It doesn’t matter if you do everything by the letter of the law if the laws are ignored by the powers that be
