Its tough to beat Barcelona. Several Antonio Gaudi houses/apts you can tour, Parc Guell and of course his Sangrada Familia cathederal which is amazing. Then there is great food, beaches and the Gothic Quarter that you can get lost in. Barcelona is also, surprisingly, one of the top cities for craft beer in Europe. We are headed to the Basque country (San Sebastian) next summer which is another great area of spain.

I agree with this. Stay in Barcelona the whole time and see all the Gaudi sites.
We stayed in El Born which is the neighborhood right next to the Gothic Quarter. Lot’s to do and see and many great restaurants.
