It's a no-brainer political issue for a national politician to get behind. The fact that none do shows the power of big pharma.

The lobbyists who oppose it here (and medical in 2012 and 2016) were mostly the liquor-store cartel. They even wrote the 2016 law in a way that allowed the Alcohol Board people have a say in how it is taxed and who gets to sell it.

What helps Arkansas get to recreational is there's an established dispensary system, and a marijuana growing industry within the state and they're flush with cash.

They've put a lot of money behind it, and I bet it passes. It's written so that the current dispensaries automatically are licensed to sell recreational if it passes.

Biden and Harris promised to legalize it. One fricking thing I'd agree with them on. Lying arse liars.

This is one of those issues that definitely needs to be left to the states.

I personally hope it stays outlawed in Texas. Weed can quickly become a nuisance in both public and private spaces. The smell is so powerful and nasty that the scent can cross property lines if one of your neighbors decides to "legally" smoke outdoors. I'm ok with people doing it inside their own property, but we all know that's not going to happen.

Then there's the fact that keeping marijuana illegal is probably stopping a ton of blue-voting potheads from moving to Texas.

Keep it illegal IMO.
