Crazy to think that with all those sweet old military rifles they used to be the cheapest thing you could get. They all eventually get to a point where modifying one is sacrilege and matching numbers examples become valuable. Not that long ago you could get a matching numbers like new 1896 for like $100
Now that select fire weapons are standard issue, I don't know that we'll ever have the opportunity to buy surplus weapons again. The M1 might be the last hurah.
