They did very well well as did the secondary on deeper and sideline routes.
What is still concerning is the amount of guys running wide open over the middle. State dropped quite a few passes over the middle that would have been big gains.

Defense was laying the wood last night.recievers were thinking twice about it.
Not to mention QB was getting hit constantly.
Great to see the Defense hitting hard like lsu Defense use to

This seemed to get better as the game progressed. But yeah, early on wr’s were just running around with no defender near them. I was thinking this is an interesting defensive scheme that just doesn’t cover anyone.

Considering that State's specialty is getting guys open on short passing routes over the middle, I think LSU's D did a really good job. There were definitely a few guys that were open over the middle (one on a 3rd down) where they dropped a few passes or the QB misfired, but the middle really closed as it got late in the game and LSU started making anticipation plays on D over the middle. The tackling was excellent too in the 2nd half after they caught just about every pass. Considering how we looked on 3rd down against FSU with their passing attack, it seemed like a dramatic improvement.
