Buying tickets outside stadium

I gave up season tickets long ago when I realized I was only making a couple games a year. With the stadium expansion there has been no problem getting tickets outside the stadium for games I wanted to see. Still a thing? Or has LSU gone paperless?

yes, its still a thing.
tickets will be in the air close to gametime around stadium with folks selling extras as they are walking to the stadium.
Theres also the street corner scalpers in their usual spots.
The biggest SEC games you will see the "I need tickets" cardboard signs as they ride around on their beach cruiser bicycles

Stubhub. You'll pay some junk fees, but you won't have to worry about scurrying around for a ticket on game day.

I waited to find something outside of the FSU game and came up empty-handed. I ended up buying through SeatGeek which took a while to be delivered. Also, network issues occur right outside the stadiums. I barely made it inside in time for kickoff.

Last season was handed free tickets for almost every game just walking up the gate. Don't think will be any different now except Tenn and Bama.

Thanks for the info, guys. I've always been able to get discounted tickets near the East gates and wanted to confirm that I could likely still do that. Good to know there are alternatives though, but rather not have to deal with technology unless necessary.

I still have paper tickets this year. Last game I didn’t see a ton of tickets being sold, but there were some….

It’s likely to become harder and harder to find paper tickets at the gates from here on out. LSU wants to go paperless, which means eventually you’re going to need to use StubHub (or equivalent). Maybe not this season, but it’s only a matter of time.
The real advantages to me are 1) lower risk of getting there and not being able to find tickets and 2) no risk of getting scammed. The downside, of course, is you have to pay the fees to the ticket marketplace.

The tickets for the FSU game were all electronic through the Sugarbowl app.
More and more of the LSU tickets are going electronic, and the university is trying to go that direction. However, many long-term season ticket holders prefer the paper tickets and have resisted the conversion. So, each year fewer and fewer paper tickets will be available to purchase on Gameday.
Ticket apps are more reliable (no scams) but also come with sizable fees on top of the ticket price.

If its not a game I deeply care about, I am never going to buy tickets before it starts. On stubhub, you can find tickets after first pitch / tipoff / kickoff at 20% the cost
