Turn around the mistakes and this team can still go 8-4

Lots to clean up by coaches and the players. But I’m oddly encouraged today. This team had fight in them, we just need to focus it.
We have some huge games this year and this team does have the talent to upset teams and build for next year. Gotta look forward now.

6-6 and a bowl game would be a miracle with this o-line

Very possible, but BK still deserves the benefit of the doubt after one game to work on things and improve them.
This board is expecting zero corrective actions from the coaching staff because that is what we have seen for 2 consecutive years now. BK isnt that stupid and he won’t allow that bad of a product of the field game over game.

I think it’s crazy all the bashing after the 1st game after 2 abysmal seasons. We will be alright just going through growing pains. This team doesn’t understand what it takes to win right now and it’s gonna take some time for them to figure it out

The one thing that concerns me more than anything was how flat the team was in the first half and especially right out of the gate.
Coaches can't create that even if you tell them to stay calm. something was and is wrong in the locker room and it shows.

Can, but unlikely.
FSU was the "swing game" between 8-4 and 7-5 IMO. To go 8-4 now means LSU will have to go 5-3 in the SEC. That is a tough ask for this particular team. I think we, myself included, underestimated just how talent depleted the team is as a whole. Yes, there is talent. It is just concentrated in a few areas. Namely DL and WR. The OL is going to be a year long work-in-progress. The LBs were almost completely unnoticed, and the secondary is not at the level we have seen for two decades at LSU.
The encouraging news is but for the reverse flea-flicker LSU didn't seem to blow too many coverages in the secondary. That certainly wasn't the case for the last 2 years.

I don't think they were "flat" as much as very unsure. That goes for the coaches and players. When you are unsure you hesitate and play slow.
You can practice and scrimmage all you want, but until you see how guys react in a game the coaches can't quite be sure as to what they are going to get. And being unsure leads to a tendency of erring on the side of caution. You hate that it comes in a loss, but with one game in the books the players/coaches have a bit more clarity as to what works, what might not work, and what to fix.
Given all of the new, coaches, players, scheme, etc, etc, this team, maybe more than any in recent memory, really could have used a "warm-up" game. Ideally, those questions would have been identified in a win vs. directional state vs. a Florida St. program that desperately needs a "good" win. And one that already had played a game before Sunday.

No doubt, this board is a nest of lunatics. Kelly literally had to rebuild the secondary and o-line.

Outside of improving the fundamentals drastically we are still left with inferior OLine and DLine play. No running threat at RB. And secondary lacks talent.
This is a game by game season.
