Daniels would benefit from hitting the slant over the middle when opponents bring 7. He’ll figure it out. I can’t imagine how bad it would have been if he wasn’t mobile trying to escape those pockets…

You say that, and I agree but this honestly didn't exist for about 3 quarters last night. It was pretty amazing how empty the middle of the field was when we were throwing it.

My thoughts exactly. Really just not acceptable for a coach to be so blind to this for a full 2.5 quarters.

Great post. I've been saying this with a hunch all day, but your post backs it up. The OLine isn't great, but not deserving of the shot being thrown their way. Far more on the coaches inability to scheme around it. I've never seen a game plan less suited for the personnel then that first half.

Keep an eye on this throughout the season. This is something BK does with his offenses and it's going to drive LSU fans insane as it should. LSU's offensive woes with Denbrock's scheme are on BK's shoulders. It's as much his offense as Denbrock and it's unacceptable.

And that’s what makes the playcalling frustrating. That TD to Jenkins was what felt like the first drag route they ran the entire game. To beat that blitz he’s gotta have an option to dump it too. Felt like we were pushing downfield route concept wise every time they blitzed. there was never a bail out route.

I find it hilarious that some idiot is like, “qb just needs to hit the slant on blitz”, then someone who watched the film is like, “bro, what slants? There was no one in middle of field.”

All the room Daniels had to run was also evidence of where the routes and defenders went. And yes, with a shaky o-line, and a qb capable of taking off, call some quick passes not long developing plays.
