If someone's kicking your door, do you have to wait until they breach the door to shoot them?

He’s not facing charges so apparently the law in Ohio is similar to Louisiana.
Just makes it a little too close for comfort for my liking. But the Ring camera mitigates any doubt. Without a Ring it gets much more sketchy.

If the dude was just standing on the porch not threatening or trying to break down the door, then yes I'd get it.
But he's actively trying to break the door down to enter the house. To say the Dad has to wait until he breaches the door would be like saying you saw the robber had a gun, you saw he grabbed and pulled out of his hoister, but you can't shoot until he points it at you. That's not how it works, or it shouldn't be how it works.
Any any any unwarranted person trying to break down your front door is an auto threat to you and your family's lives.

The way the law reads you can shoot if they are attempting to break into your home. The law reads the same for breaking into your occupied car.
However the law is rarely applied appropriately by law "professionals" so you might take a ride. There is always a chance you get the wrong DA and the wrong jury and end up in prison.
