Oberlin is a private university and not a government entity, so I don’t think they can hide behind the “We haven’t appropriated for a settlement” routine.

With the state ruling this way, I’m sure that the business should be able to get a court order demanding payment and threatening a freeze on the college’s accounts if they don’t make arrangements.

Tie up every asset Oberlin has until this lady gets a check. Let’s see how long the janitors, admins and professors are willing to work when there’s no paycheck.

You're assuming Oberlin doesn't appeal to SCOTUS. That would have to play out first. But, thankfully because of the current makeup of the court, SCOTUS will probably refuse to hear it also.

Their athletic department can pay that off with petty cash.
