40 years? Really

I saw this in an earlier post and can’t believe it’s been 40 years since we beat the Noles. It makes perfect sense but had to wrap my head around it.
I was lucky enough to attend that game as a kid with my grandparents. I remember the Seminole Indian (must have been an LSU student playing the part) being pelted with oranges and the fog rolling in. It was one of those nights when LSU did everything right and made the ride back to Acadiana so much smoother.
Geaux Tigers and hope we don’t have to wait another 40 years.

I mean it’s not like we are in the same conference or something. When is the last time we beat Washington State? We gone beat that arse Sunday though.

FSU has caught LSU twice when FSU was on the rise and LSU was on a decline. 1982 was the outlier. Outside of 1982 LSU wasn't great in the early 80's (before Arnsbarger). From 89-91 FSU was a powerhouse inching closer to a national championship, while LSU was entering its worst 6 year period in program history

Makes me feel old that all the players on this year’s team think of those games from the 80s and 90s about how I think of the 58 team.

Curley's first team in 1991 had no business hanging around with the Noles, but scored on the 2nd play from scrimmage (long pass to Todd Kinchen), then forced a fumble on a short field and tacked on a FG to take an early 10-0 lead.

I was there and it was like out of a movie. We had tons of oranges that we had infused with vodka. Would poke a hole and squeeze the screwdriver out into our mouth. Then at the end of the game threw them out on the field to signify we were going to the Orange Bowl. The fog came rolling in around the 4th qtr. looked like a scene out of a sci fi movie. Was all surreal but we spanked that arse!

We also beat them in 1983 when they had Steve Pelleur. It was one of only four games the Tigers won that year. The others being Rice, South Carolina, and Tulane.

Rough year when one of your four wins is against food(rice).

LSU actually had another FG to make it 13-0. At HT LSU was up 16-7.
To put things in perspective, the game was played in late October. No one would play a big non-conf. game that late in the season these days. Also, FSU was 7-0 and ranked #1, while LSU was 3-3.
One of, maybe the first game I ever attended...largely because my mom didn't want to sit in the rain. And holy shite did it rain! LSU hung in as long as they could, but they were far inferior to that FSU team.
LSU played Florida, Florida St. and Alabama really tough that season (all top 10 teams, all in Tiger Stadium), but came up short. The next season, 1992, would be the worst

Also, played them in the inaugural Peach Bowl 1968 remember watching (on color TV!) struggled with but won 31-27

I was in that number throwing oranges through the goal post after the game. Our last TD scored that night was by freshman QB Jeff Wickersham from Tallahassee!!!!

I think that was the Casey Weldon led Seminole team.

Freaking Curley Hallman and Joe Dean for allowing it to go on that long.
