What do you guys on the OB use as a bacterial agent in your septic system. I have heard from someone that Rid-ex is not the best additive. Thanks for the input. I had to change a sump pump yesterday. It had been working for a number of years so not unexpected. Just never a good time.

My dad swears by rid-x but also uses occasional full cans of heavy beer. One tank has been going strong at the cabin for 50+ years, no pump or backups ever.

One tank just overflowed last week, easily the lightest ever used. Maybe 4 weeks of the year, some years never.

My father in law uses some kind of "green pellets" and I think he is sharper when it comes to this stuff.

Good luck, I have been watching my own s*** for a few days now until the pump guy can make it.

shite. I've been on septic most of my life and we've never added anything.

If you have a lift station those things just go bad because they're not made to last any more. Paying money for bacteria isn't going to make a pump last longer, because on a properly designed system they're not pumping anything but fluids anyway.

Just remember to double up if someone is on antibiotics. Redd Foxx has some stuff for marine applications.

Just make sure your aerator is working, and if you have a pump definitely make sure it's working. I went on a call a while back and the GFI for the people's pump was tripped and they had no idea. When I took the clean out cap off it looked like that scene from Joe dirt where he hits the poop rocket with a hammer. They had sewage coming out of their bathtubs showers sinks. It was a nightmare

If you have an aerobic (aerated) system this is the one most septic system companies recommend. Rid-X is for anaerobic (no air) systems.

I have an aerobic system and it’s been recommended to not use products like RidX.
