Anyone here ever had a bout of Trigeminal Neuralgia ?
My wife had it and eventually they drilled into the back of her skull and did surgery to relieve the pain.
Trigeminal Neuralgia is extreme facial pain, usually caused when an artery is pressing against the Trigeminal nerve . Dentists are often blamed as being the culprits for having caused the onset of this, and in my wife’s case, she did have some dental procedures done shortly before all this started. Maybe someone here on the board that knows more about TN or is a dentist can elaborate on why that is. I just know that sometimes the doctors will ask about recent dental work that was done. But anyway, TN has been nicknamed “The Suicide Disease “ because it’s so painful. It’s a nerve that runs along your face; my wife described it as electric shocks to her face non stop for hours. It would happen randomly . The wind blowing in her face would sometimes cause an attack. YouTube has plenty of videos of people describing the bouts of pain they’ve experienced. Famous people that had it include : Jefferson Davis.
The neurosurgeon Dr. Alan Appley in Lafayette did the surgery and my wife has never had a reoccurrence in over 10 years now. It went away just like that!
