First, my sympathy goes out to you and your family for such a loss and continued sad times. I pray that God gives you all comfort and strength.
Second, thanks for sharing this story. It is great to know that these men have their priorities in order and can take the time to try and bring happiness to others. I have always known that coach Miles was a good, caring person. God bless him and Dale for their kindess.

Thanks to all for their kind and caring comments.
No one is ever alone, just seems that way sometimes. But comfort can be found in many places, thanks Tiger Nation.

PapaChief,
From one Proud LSU fan to another, I'm extending my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your brother. We are part of a Great Tiger Family.
It's obvious that I have spent very little time in the TD Forum, but I read your post this morning while thinking about my brother-in-law who lost his battle with cancer in 2005.
Hope you don't mind if I share a similiar experience with you. Prior to the very late stages of his cancer, he was weak and didn't have the strength to get to his seats in Tiger Stadium. The anguish on his face was heart wrenching for a huge Tiger Fan. I loved him as much as I love my brothers. Wrote a letter to our former LSU AD, Skip, about his battle with cancer. Much to my surprise, Skip called my home to extend a personal invitation that would allow him to watch our LSU Tigers in his suite. I'll never forget the look on his face when I surprised him with this gracious invitation from LSU. Skip and his wonderful wife, Sandy rolled out the Royal Purple & Gold carpet for our family that day. The smile on my brother-in-law's face was priceless. He was so HAPPY and was able to finally enjoy watching a game in comfort. We took many pictures, he received autograph balls, hat, Game Day Program, etc. He wore that autographed hat during his last days in this World. LSU gave him an awesome gift and gave our family memories that will last forever
We're blessed to have Great leaders on and off the field and The Best Tiger Family in college football.
Forever LSU!!!!!!!!!!!

Papachief and lsuheybaby,
Those are wrenching stories and point out something really special about LSU, as well as something special about both of you.
They live on through you and everyone else whose life they touched. Being part of the tigernation, I am sure they touched many lives.
But let us remember, no one loses in life. Cancer and other illness are not a fight or a contest and one does not lose the fight or give up when they pass on.
One lives with cancer. One never gives in to cancer. These two special people lived with their illness and they were taken from us early by cancer. There are no winners or losers when it comes to cancer.
LSU and some other universities actually remember that there are people out there rather than just revenue sources. And while LSU should be saluted for that so should everyone here who donates to LSU and keeps a voice in what LSU is.
