Thats how averages work. you have some drier years then some wetter years and then some avg years and it all equals out

The only reason we would need 50+ in of rain a year is to recharge the aquifer

I'd put money that its plenty full right now and was full enough in June also

In the early 2000s when we had all those dry years it didn't create some catastrophe

All I can say is last year was wet as hell, yet my grass wasn't growing well at all (yard or pasture) because of the lack of rain we had for the first 6 months of the year.

So no, that's not how it works. That's how, as you said, averages work. But it's not how anything else works.

I mean, by that logic, getting 6" of rain at one time is the same as getting it over an entire month. It's still 6", right?

As a farmer, I would think you could grasp this concept and look beyond simple averages.
