Switzerland recommendations

I wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations of where to stay in the Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen area. We'll be coming up after a week in Tuscany the first week of July 2023.
The plan would be to stay in that general area for roughly 5-6 days. We'll have kids with us - none younger than almost 7 by that time. We definitely plan on doing some hiking(nothing too crazy but the kids can keep up pretty well) and general sightseeing in the area.
Would anyone recommend staying in one place and venturing out from there or a couple nights in that area and a couple nights in another? There are tons of VRBO/airbnb's available, so we'll likely be getting one of those and not a hotel.
Murren looks amazing, but is it a pain in the arse to get to/from? Better to stay in Lauterbrunnen or Grindewald or somewhere with car access?

Lauterbrunnen area
Stayed at an AirBnB in Wengen (overlooks Lauterbrunnen). Would absolutely do this again if I had the chance as the valley seemed a bit touristy. Plus it's easy to get to by train when you want to go there.

The host even rode up on her bike one afternoon and asked us if everything was okay and if we needed anything.

Hi CT,
I can vouch for Mürren, as wife & I spent 3 nights there in July 2014. Getting there isn't bad: train south from Interlaken, lift from Lauterbrunnen up to Grutschalp, and 20-minute train to Mürren BLM.
I'd recommend seeing which side above the valley you want to explore more. Are y'all taking the train up to the Jungfraujoch? If so, Wengen might be better since it's on the Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau side. If you want to do more of the easier/moderate hikes, I think the Mürren side is a better home base. It also has the Schilthorn if you want thrilling views similar to the Jungfraujoch. The Schilthorn lift was a 10-minute walk from our hotel.
Lauterbrunnen is less touristy than Grindelwald will be IMO. With a rental car, you'll definitely be more mobile to explore nearby areas by staying in the valley and then taking lifts up when you want to hike, etc.
With 5-6 nights, the best bet might be to stay a few days in the valley and a few days up the mountains to give you some variety. Hotel Alpina is where we stayed and I cannot recommend enough...about a 3-minute walk from the train terminal.

We had the bottom corner balcony overlooking both the valley floor & with awesome views of Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau...it was an unforgettable treat to have that view right off your room.
Hope this helped...happy to assist with any other questions

I second Wengen. Been a few times. Wengen always felt like the most convenient location- you can get to all the other locations (Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Kleine Scheidegg) pretty easily from Wengen, and it’s half way up so has great views. We always stayed at the Alpenrose hotel, but the last time I went was 2012.

Still in the very early planning stages, so not sure yet. We're staying at a villa on the north side of Lake Trasimeno in Italy, so we'll probably take a train up from Florence/Siena or fly into Milan or Bern. I think a train up through Italy would be fun though. We did the TGV from Paris to Avignon in 2019 and that was beautiful, although I don't think they have a high speed line in Italy.
If anyone has advice on the best way to get to Switzerland from the Trasimeno area, that would be appreciated.
