I turned 40 and began feeling like I was tearing my rotator cuff just from side-sleeping. Sucks.

Yep. I use to always sleep on my side, but haven't in many years due to waking up in pain from whichever shoulder was hitting the mattress.
I'll try it every now and then, but fail miserably after about 15 minutes and just concede I'll be sleeping on my back till the day I croak.
