I am of the opinion that no matter how much money teams bring in, a free college education is more than enough. Not to mention room, board, tutoring, books.

No way. And if they did this, I would vote that they had to have at least a 3.5 GPA. Which no one would have, so problem solved.

I agree with this.

Most don't have enough time to work.

Pay them minimum wage for their practice time and game time, etc... band members and other auxiliary student personnel get paid at a lot of schools.

Do they also get free tuition, room, board etc? If so, then I disagree with them getting paid as well.

They should be allowed to market themselves, sign shoe/clothing deals, recieve a portion of the money from their own jersey sales, things like that.

What the frick does that matter?

It's about the extra time they put in on behalf of the university as opposed to an average student just going to classes.

Someone on an academic scholarship but no extracuriculars still has plenty of time to work part-time that athletes and some other students don't have.

Besides, not even all athletes are on scholarship.

Oh, and I did... and I got paid.

But believe me, what I was paid to be in the LSU band was nothing close to what I would have made in a student worker job or waiting table, etc... nowhere close.

Which is one of the major reasons scholarship limits suck
