There's also a striking difference between MSU insiders and Tenn insiders.
MSU insider:
Tenn insider:
The MSU insider, who is among the biggest douchebags in sports, acknowledges who the top dog is in college baseball and knows where Mississippi State stands. shite, prior to the last 2 years, they were one of the top dos as well and were among the best programs in the country. They have a right to make those claims
Tenn on the other hand has won 1 CWS game since 2001, but by reading their message board, no one is their equal and Tony is a god. I mean "the best recruiter in college athletics"? Really? He's not even the best recruiter in his own conference, in his own sport
After a quick search, since the 2018 class (Vitello's first year at Tenn) through the 2024 class, Vitello has 17 top 100 players committed (6 top 50) to him, with 7 of which being in the '24 class.
Since the 2022 class, through the 2024 class, Jay has 23 top 100 guys committed (17 being top 50 guys)
MSU insider:
quote:
LSU is LSU and we're going to be on the same big name portal guys every single year. They won Skenes last year, because it was simply a better situation for him. That one roster move changed so much for them and helped them win it all. We have to win some of these head to heads not just because we need the dudes, we don't want to have to play against them.
Tenn insider:

It went well, which was expected. Visits in which Vitello puts the full-court press on always go well. That's why he's the best recruiter in college athletics.
I don't believe Tennessee could be in a better spot. They have great relationships with the kid and his dad, Holman's are looking to develop and they can do that better than anywhere at Tennessee, there's a need in the rotation, the visit was always going to go well, he can compete for a Natty, etc. It's going to come down to how he feels about State and LSU. There's nothing left for UT to do, IMO.
Was at Mississippi State today and will be at LSU tomorrow.

I haven't asked my Tennessee source about him, but just knowing what I know about the coaches and programs, it's a Tennessee - LSU race and the Mississippi State guy is blowing smoke.
Tennessee was on him very early and had connections to him they could leverage. From a development standpoint, I don't think he could make a wrong choice between Yeskie and Frank Anderson.

Tennessee are just like Georgia fans they are delusional behind comprehension. But unlike Georgia Tennessee hasn't actually won anything. Georgia until 2021 hadn't won anything but you would have thought they won 6 National Championships in football, that is how Tennessee is and their beat writers and it is so aggravating.
