The thing no one ever talks about in the Miss State game and Missouri game is what the coaches did with skill position personnel that killed scoring opportunities. Everyone focuses on the defense or Brennan, but forgets Orgeron let the assistant coaches sub out T.Marshall, Gilbert etc every 3rd and 5th possession regardless of what was going on in the game.
Mickey Joseph predetermined he was going to sub out the starters every 3rd and 5th possession despite Marshall and Gilbert destroying them (especially Missouri). We had to punt and surrender points because Mickey wanted to play to the WR room thinking Koy Moore was as good as T.Marshall. Ridiculous

I just don't see why everyone points at Brennan, it's easy to defend when the o-line blows and there is no running game. Brennan still slung it all over the field. If he had maintained that pace the whole year, he'd have almost eclipsed Jayden Daniels career stats. I don't really care who starts at QB. Just hate to see some blame Brennan for 2020 for the two losses. Our leading rusher had like 450 yards on the season. Combine the top 2 and they barely eclipse 800 yards for the entire season. Defense also gave up an avg of 323 yds passing and 170yds of rushing a game. 2019 gave up 222yds passing and 120 yds rushing.
I’m not trying to “blame” Brennan for the loss, I just see a lot of people pointing to those games as reasons why Brennan should start, and I disagree. With an even mediocre defense, we likely win both of those games pretty easily and Brennan is 3-0…but we aren’t discussing who is more responsible for the losses, we’re discussing whether the quarterback performance in those games represents a level that would lead to a successful 2022 season - I do not believe that it would.

Because they have to do everything in their power to convince people why the guy they like should start over everyone else.
Daniels has the most experience but there's a reason he left Arizona state. He had an at best mediocre season last year.
Nuss has only played one full game against Arkansas and it was not good at all.
Brennan had some good stats in his only starts but didn't get the job done when it comes to getting a win.
We have 3 qbs that have been at best mediocre in their career so far. No one on this board can honestly say how one option will be better then the other when we don't have access to what went on during the off season or during practice.

This is the best post I’ve seen about this so far. No one is blaming MB for anything, we’re just pointing out that he played poorly and he isn’t a good qb when everyone shouts over and over about how he threw for 1300 yards and 13td’s so that makes him great - with zero context to the actual games

I'll be shocked if Daniels is the starter. His lack of accuracy and bad mechanics are a big problem and would lead to turnovers and short possessions.

Did Aikman start for UCLA?
He started at Oklahoma and at UCLA. At Oklahoma, he was the starter as a sophomore, but broke his ankle early in the season. His backup took them the rest of the way to the national championship (so Aikman transferred to UCLA). He was then the starter at UCLA his junior and senior years.

So you’re cutting Brennan more slack because he wasn’t throwing to Gilbert, Marshall, and Boutte on every single down? Do you see how ridiculous this sounds?

Obviously numbers aren't everything but you can't sit there and say definitively that he isn't a good qb when there were so many other factors that caused the team to not succeed in those games. Was he apart of it? Sure but let's also apply that to every loss that daniels has been apart of as well as the Arkansas game for nuss.
Is he a great qb? Probably not but i dont think we have any "great" qbs on the roster right now.

So you’re comparing Brennan in his 4th year in the program to how Nuss looked in his first year?
I can 100% day for a fact he wasn’t a good qb. Sure our team was bad in several different areas, but Brennan was also very bad and he was very bad against bottom tier sec teams. In his 2 loses he was 5 for 27 on 3rd down. His play was definitely not up to par with what we should expect from an LSU qb

Every single quarterback that is competing for the starting job has played poorly. While I have hope that whoever starts will be good enough, none of them have really proven anything.

LSU fans arguing about who will be the starting QB the next few weeks:

Your selective stats that you are determining to be the end all be all isn’t really helping your argument. Did you know in the 1st 2 games in 2018 against Miami and Southeastern, LSU was 7 for 27 on 3rd down?

What does it matter? The only thing that matters is the outcome of the game. If you are going to hold one guy to a certain standard you have to hold everyone else to that standard. Nuss doesn't get a pass for his shitty performance against Arkansas because he was a freshman.

So the poster’s analogy really makes no sense whatsoever

Burrow looked a lot better in those games than Myles did in his starts, he actually stepped up in pocket and wasn’t afraid to make throws, he also didn’t take forever getting the ball out

Like I’ve said before, let’s please everyone and go Brennan, Nuss, and Daniels in the wishbone. We all b happy!!

Pretty sure you have blamed him quite a bit.

Just so everyone is clear, we can’t use yards, TD’s, or INT’s as a stat because NicotineFree2022 wanted to use the 3rd down stat. But now we can’t use that stat either, so we have to go off of how he looked in the eyes of NicotineFree2022.

Not what we should expect from an LSU qb? Did you just start watching football in 2019?
Brennan played well vs Mizzou. To say otherwise indicates a heavy bias. Bringing up 3rd down stats makes me think you didn’t watch the game. Several drops and lots of screens on 3rd down because slinger couldn’t trust the OL.
