re: Asian store owner fights back. Thwarts robbery and stabs thug multiple times

so I'll lead off with... I'm all for the clerk defending his business and anyone who takes part in a felony like the robbery happening here should be responsible for any and all injuries that happen during the commission of that crime... including to themselves
that said...
the (very right wing) lawyers I watch on YouTube think the store clerk could be in some trouble here
they're looking at this from a legal aspect solely
Nick Rekieta... lawyer in Minnesota (the red portion of Minnesota)
and then this input from Andrew Branca... who specializes in self-defense law and has literally written the book on the topic
he's responding to Rekieta's tweet of it potentially being a murder...
I would hate to see the clerk charged for this... but it all comes down to how Nevada law is written

Possible Unpopular opinion:
This could very well be a murder.
Rekieta Law @RekietaLaw
Importantly, this is a question of LEGAL use of deadly force. Not whether or not the store owner SHOULD be justified.

Looks that way to me, on initial viewing. Busy this weekend, so won't have time to look more closely until Monday.

Looks sketchy on initial view. Where’s the physical threat from thief prior to clerk bringing knife to bear?

I’m on an all-day motorcycle trip Saturday, then other obligations all day Sunday, so I won’t be taking a closer look at this event until Monday at the earliest.

Like I said earlier, if the guy jumped over the counter and the clerk fired one shot and killed him would that not be self defense.
Unfortunately, with a knife you never know if the other guy is subdued and, if not, does that person have a gun? The person is already committing a felony.
no telling what prosecutor does but do you really want to piss off the asian community?

Well the kid lived so I doubt it.

Maybe stores should take out the cameras.
That way its your word against the dead guy.

Unfortunate for the shop owner he did not have the luxury to review tapes over the weekend to see how he should have reacted.
