Stuff like Dead Alive/Braindead is so over the top that it fails to really disgust me.
In general I can deal with shite like dismemberment, dissolving bodies, being eaten, broken bones, etc.
What genuinely fricks me up is shite like bodily assimilation. Think the deleted scenes with the people pods in Alien, the bear in Annihilation, the Flayed in Stranger Things, or what happens to the mother and son in Color Out of Space (I had to skip a few minutes of that attic scene because it was unsettling the hell out of me).
The Fly and The Thing would technically count I guess but those come close to the same "comically over the top" metric as Dead Alive.

Color Out of Space is the last movie I ve seen recently that the body horror got to me. Love the movie though.
Before that... the cliff scene in Midsommar...that was some gnarly shite.
