Its supposed to help with pain and inflammation, and act like another form of deep tissue massage.
Whether it works or not is debatable.

It draws blood into the muscle to help with recovery and it does in fact work.
Want to see something really insane? Look up Rodney Harrison’s dry needling routine for recovery. That really works too but he gets way more than I’ve ever done.
