The problem is and always has been ( at least in my lifetime) is that Repuicans refuse to play hardball politics at the local levels where the fight starts. We don't go into the cities and challenge. We don't look at election laws and tweak them.
But also we jettison our most effective operators when they get in "trouble".

The right typically loses because our most talented people dont go into politics, and they cant go into the mainstream media.
