Didn't see anything on it. I just listened to CTJ's presser from today. He loves Temple. He said he'll be at the three. He really likes Chris Johnson. He'll be at the 5. The other starter will be Tasmin at the 4. He mentioned that Farrer, Martin, and Marcus Thorton need to be better defensively to get action at the 2. He said he realizes that Thorton was the second leading scorer in the league, but he needs to play defense. He added that Thorton is being very receptive to the coaching so we all know that he'll be out there starting. He's just sending a message. Spencer and Bass will run the point. I believe they scrimmage on next Tuesday. Anyone else think that CTJ is going to get this thing headed in the right direction? Obviously time will tell, but he looks and acts the part.

I was just thinking about bball today. I was driving into work and was wondering where they would play Temple. He isn't aggressive enough to be a PG and he can't shoot well enough to be a 2. Playing GT at the 3 is a smart move. Moving Taz to 4 is smart as well b/c he'll provide a good inside out threat. He plays a lot bigger than he actually is.

I'm ok with Taz running the 4 only if the offense fits his abilities. If the O we run has Taz posting up big PF's, I don't like the move.

I'm sure Trent will put them all in the best position to succeed though.

LSU has had some "tweeners" the last few years. Taz isn't really big enough to be a PF but he doesn't have the ball handling/shooting skills to be a 2 or 3. He is on again off again shooting the ball. I've never been a big Temple fan. I think he's so good when he takes the ball to the basket but as a shooter he's atrocious.

Wonder who will be the next SEC coach not named Donovan to coach a Final Four team? Or the next SEC coach not named Donovan or tubby to win two SEC titles.

Is recruiting going to be good enough??

I'm sure we will be better this season, but I don't see us winning the SEC.

I agree. It may happen this season. LSU will be in the top four teams in the league. All of the the top teams have unanswered questions. The team that answers best and stays healthy will claim the SEC title. Don't count the Tigers out if the supporting cast around the big four can make positive contributions.

So the only question heading into practices for the next few weeks will be who will start the point?

I think Trent is implementing what Brady was too stubborn to do and that is the 3 guard offense. I think Trent's teams will focus more on scoring and being up-tempo, which Brady promised year after year...but up-tempo really meant going berzerk and turning the ball over ala Tack.

I like this lineup based on what he has said (forgive me for not numbering the positions..i am old-fashioned):

PG - Bo Spencer (Bass will see a lot of time, too)
G - Marcus Thorton
G - Garrett Temple
F - Tasmin Mitchell
C - Chris Johnson

is it too early for this? Me thinks NOT!!!!

22-9 in regular season with an 11-7 SEC mark. I think that will get us in 2nd place in the west, behind Bama and a bye in the SEC. I say we are 23-10 heading into the NCAA Tourney...get a #9 seed and Johnson may get us a win. This is not a bad team at all on paper. We are a Randolph away from being a preseason top 10-15 pick. We have some exciting players that have joined the team - so I have read. I like this Storm Davis kid and I really am excited about guys like Green (if healthy) coming back. Johnson, you can tell, likes Green and CJ. This is Tasmin's chance to make up for having to suffer through Tragedy ala Brady on the bench. I think he has a huge year.

I predict that we lead the SEC west in scoring (3rd overall in the SEC). I think Thorton will average about 21 ppg; Tasmin will get 16 ppg; C Johnson will get 14 ppg; Temple gets 10 ppg; rest of team combines for 17 ppg

78 points a contest...give up just under 70. I expect some close games; especially with this schedule. A fast start and playing some cupcakes will help this team build confidence and chemistry. I think it's going to be a fun year. I will be at every singl ehome game; hope to make at least one road game...preferably A&M or maybe Tusacloosa.

Ha. Good minds think alike. Along with Stro and Zealot, I have noticed you're one of the bigger b'ball fans on here...even moreso than football. make no mistake, I am too (not as big as football), and I go way back with basketball at LSU and have fonder memories of it than football. I've got a million stories to tell about me and being minorly involved with the program as a kid...I'll save those for another day/thread.

When LSU basketball is on fire, it's tough to beat and it's very much a rush. It's difficult to see the PMAC consistently have 14,500 in the seats and LSU being in first place. It's not a loyal fanbase, either. A 16-14 LSU basketball team will average about 8 K which is about 60 percent full. A 6-6 LSU football team will still bring in an average of 85K, which is 89 percent full. It's obvious that this is a football state. I just hope that a new coach and new and old talent ignites everyone and we get a realistic goal of 11 K every home game. Everyone wants a new arena and new this and that. Nothing beyond fans being in the seats will achieve this. Ask Arkansas.

I think Trent will do great things. Not a racist comment, but I think it was time LSU hired a minority for basketball. I really like his style of play...and he's been around, on top of that, unlike Brady who was an asst at State, a high school coach, and then at Samford - an obvious trademarked good ole boy hire by none other than Joe Dean. We upgraded from Brady...not that it was difficult, but we could have hired some other moron like his twin at Bama.

sup one??!!

pisces, you got it. i just grew up around basketball. i played football too but i just played it to play, i didnt have the same love for it as basketball. dont get me wrong i love my lsu football and i love seeing the baseball team bounce back but i love my lsu basketball. it is probably my favorite sport. lsu football would be a close second followed by the saints. i remember being a second grader watching jason kidd beat us with that last second shot in the 93 tournament and i had no idea that would be the last time i would see the tigers in the tournament until i was a freshman in hs but i kept supporting them. those long dark years make these last couple of years seem like nothing
