Those who have been/lived there, give me the pros and cons of Pheonix. Nicer areas, eats, what to see, do. What to avoid, etc.
Never been. Thinking of making a road trip. 2 adults, no kids. Up for whatever Pheonix has to offer.

Have lived here for about a year and a half so I’m still learning new areas too. Places of note that I’ve enjoyed are Scottsdale (kind of goes without saying), parts of downtown Phoenix are really cool and there is tons to do in that area between bars, restaurants, Dbacks, breweries, and then depending on when you come there’s a good bit of hiking trails in and around the city. I would not recommend that if you come during the summer, but anytime after August should be fine for that. Also the botanical gardens are really cool, and if you have time, go to Sedona which is only about an hour and a half north.

Botanical Gardens are awesome. Check of Frank Lloyd Wright’s school/home out in the desert. Taliesin West

I cannot imagine a road trip to Phoenix. Utterly soulless town, urban sprawl, shopping strip malls, serious traffic... you can get that in Columbus Ohio without the heat.
I wind up there twice a year or so and have zero recommendations for you other than "pick another spot".

Skip phoenix, hit Sedona, flagstaff, Grand Canyon, etc. phoenix is a nice city but it’s huge, stale, generic, and isn’t really a travel destination

Wife and I spent 11 days in Arizona during the month of May. We flew into Phoenix Skyharbor Airport and rented a vehicle. The Botanical Gardens is 15 minutes from the airport and was awesome. I would recommend. It was the only thing we did in Phoenix.
The rest of the trip was spent in areas around Tucson, Flagstaff, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon. Nice hiking trails in those areas. Sedona is a must visit.
