We have a USL team here (Louisville) and those games are fun AF.

As a former resident Louisville city FC is really the model, imo. Small, new stadium with cool built-in stuff (brewery, etc.) and in a district not far from a ton of other cool things but not right smack downtown, so it's pretty easy to do. It's not a wonder why it's become so popular.

It would require some vision but a City Park/Mid City build out at Tad Gormley would be amazing. There's enough to do around the area that it wouldn't feel like an island, but it would also be a very unique sport experience for the city.

Tad Gormley seats 26k. Knock some of that out and make boxes/nicer seats/etc and convert it into a really nice 15k capacity stadium, add some amenities, and boom we're there.

I think Louisville is a really good example of how to do it right. Louisville is the largest college basketball market in the country. City is very basketball focused, and NOLA is similarly focused on Football. In spite of this, Louisville FC has been very successful.

It’s all about getting a solid fan Org built and plugging in all the kids teams. I think Louisville found a core group of fans that was hungry for a non-basketball sport to root for. They started at the minor league park and did a great job building a fan base while they got funding for a proper new site that’s really nice. This has a ton of potential I’d think to be successful. Like all sports it sure would help if they hit the ground and won some games like Louisville FC did…
