I don’t think he would have been this pissed either.

Tolkien would have been pissed at the Jackson trilogy, specifically leaving out the Scouring of the Shire. Christopher Tolkien did hate the Jackson trilogy. While I think they would have added the Scouring of the Shire to the Extended Edition if they knew in advance how successful those were going to be, if Tolkien and his son hated those wonderful movies, then they sure as fricking shite would hate this. Just Galadriel having a sword would be dumbfounding to the two of them and is an insult to Galadriel’s power.

He probably did not foresee streaming services our huge Movie franchises.

Oh Tolkien could see movie franchises coming. He wasn’t retarded.

The Silmarillion wasn’t even published when he died.

Because it wasn’t truly complete. He intended for the Silmarillion to be part of the Lord of the Rings, but his publisher passed on that, which was probably a good move by them.

Also for all the dick sucking you do of Peter Jackson, the hobbit was a less faithful than the fricking Cartoon version.

But that was due to the fricking studios demanding that he make it a trilogy when there was not enough material to do it. He pulled off all the scenes he needed to get right and then winged the rest since he wasn’t given enough time and they wanted way too much footage out of Jackson. And you want an example of Jackson’s transparency, here he was being honest with the fans on what happened and why I don’t blame him specifically for the Hobbit being a mess: YouTube

You’re right Chris cobbled it together with another writer because Chris loves
Money.

It was also a good move by them because they wanted a novel not the Middle
earth Bible.

Ok so maybe this isn’t the fricking measuring stick you keep holding it up to be because the LOTR trilogy was awesome

The first trailer looks good.

You’re upset because a gay guy on a panel though Sauron was hot?

What do you think he should look like? The big armored giant in the LOTR movies? It’s hard to trust that guy even if he promises powers

Yes because you definitely know what a guy who has been dead for 50 years would think about one scene being left out of a movie that he never would have thought would ever have been made He'd hate the whole movie, not that they left out the Scourging of the Shire.

I would have bet my life that you were going to say this exact sentence at some point in this thread. You've had this dumb take since the movies came out and say it in every LOTR thread like it's something everyone needs to hear. Getting four scenes right out of 9 hours is not an accomplishment. When has this ever been a legitimate take on any movie that isn't good? "No it's still a good movie and the director can't be criticized because they got one scene right!"

I agree with you that I think this is going to suck. I am not expecting anything good and the main reason will because it's not a faithful rendition. But by the standards you have with this show, you should also be shitting on The Hobbit. Because it wasn't faithful either.
