So me and the family (Wife 7 year old daughter , 5 year old daughter and one year old son) decided to hop on a cruise after a work conference in Tampa. Left out of Port Canaveral today and heading to Nassau and two days on the MSC island Ocean Cay. First impressions are very good. Boarding the ship sucked but they did the best they could. Ship is really nice and Clientele is far from the typical Carnival crowds.
Tonight we had an awesome dinner , partied in the bars and basically had the sports bar and mini bowling all to ourself. Crew is great and has catered to my kids every needs. Room is comfortable for us and plenty of storage to unload our 5 suitcases and store under the bed .

For under $2k with a balcony room and free drinks and internet so far this is an unbelievable steal for a 4 night cruise.

Also 4 espresso martinis are probably the reason I’m writing this shite at 1 am

Never heard of MSC. Just looked at their site and although prices are great, i can't get a feel for their ships. More details? We are looking to take 4 night cruise with a few other couples soon, but would rather it be more adult/less kid friendly. We arent too picky for this particular trip, but no Carnival.

There’s really not much to do for kids. On this ship the adult section is incredible. Back of the boat on the 14th deck with a cool arse infinity pool. I think I like the simplicity of this boat. No crazy arse water parks or roller coasters . Service can be improved in the restaurant but I think they aren’t use to a full boat, the prices can’t be beat, and if you really wanna go baller status stay in the yacht club rooms .

If you want a cruise that carries your arse to your iternary and provides decent food and drinks at a good price I would highly recommend it. If you want to be wowed by the latest amenities, attractions, and entertainment on the boat then MSC leaves a lot to be desired.

My kids are 7,5, and 1 and on vacation I kind of like spending time with them at these ages. There was a kids drop off but we never used it. Ate dinner at the 6:00 seating saw a show sometimes around 9. Kids had fun dancing outside and listening to the music . There was a sports bar with some mini bowling and the one year old loves crawling around the ship. Also there wasn’t any days at sea which was great about this cruise . Got to spend two days on their island and one in Nassau .

Not really. The one time I would see the kid club gaggle walking by it would only be about 20ish kids. There were a good bit of foreigners on the boat who were actually really quiet and kept to themselves.

For the money we paid and since we already were in that area of florida I couldn’t have asked for better. Service definitely has room for improvement but for my family we ate, drank, and played as much as we could have wanted for right around $2k. The Ocean Cay island was really nice and the bars all were part of the drink package (which would up adding like $200 to the cruise price and I’m including in the $2000 total trip). Something to be said about sipping mimosas in a bahama lagoon .
