The second statement is obviously true, but compare it with the first-- by admitting the perpetrator of the crime deserves capital punishment, you've admitted a human being is morally incapable of redemption. Now regarding the baby, isn't half of the baby's DNA inherited from this evil scoundrel?
The reason why the baby is innocent is because they committed no crime. Their DNA is irrelevant.
