This is always a fear of mine. My little one talks so much in the car I doubt anyone could forget him. He RARELY falls asleep in the car too, and most places I go with him are for him (swim lessons, ice cream, shoe shopping). I have a 19 year ld daughter that watches him some times and I always remind her he is in the car. Teenagers can have their head in the clouds. I have told people put a fricking sticky note on your wheel that says GET CHILD. Anything to not make that deadly mistake. I would want to kill myself too if I did that.

Might be weird, but I take a shoe off and leave it on the floor in front of my nieces and nephews when I'm driving them around while babysitting. It works.

I really don't know how this happens. When my two were little I would bring them to my in-laws every day. Some days when my wife would stay home and keep them, I would still drive to my in-laws before I realized they were at home with her. Even on days I would drop them off when I would get to work I turn around and look in the back seat. It happens, but I just can't understand how it happens. From the time I would get in my vehicle to the time I got out, I was constantly mindful of them being in the back seat.

I've heard a few tricks like that as well. Leaving your phone in the seat next to them.. or leaving the car keys if you have push start.. etc.

The poster below you with the shoe idea - that's a good one.
